Brentwood, TN (June 20, 2012) – Effective June 18, 2012, the Grand Council of Sigma Pi Fraternity, International revoked the charter of the Iota-Gamma Chapter at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas.
Iota-Gamma was closed for violations of both Fraternity and FIPG risk management policies. These violations included participating in the regional Chilifest event while on suspension, collecting money to purchase alcohol, having alcohol readily available to minors and not maintaining a guest list or safe environment for members and guests.
“The risk management policies are in place for everyone’s safety and must be followed,” said Interim Executive Director Brian C. Alley. “Sigma Pi places a high value on our chapter standards with the expectation that each chapter will conform for the benefit of their members and the International organization.”
Sigma Pi Fraternity has resolved to hold its chapters accountable for compliance with all Grand Chapter and University policies, FIPG guidelines, new member education policies, minimum standards on chapter membership, and adherence to the governing laws of the Fraternity.
